EARTHCORPS SEEKS NEW BOARD MEMBERS!
EarthCorps is a non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington that cultivates leaders and community partnerships to advance environmental justice. We believe in the power of people – acting through their collective responsibility to one another and our planet – to tackle the most pressing challenges facing our world and we envision a world in which people and nature thrive together. EarthCorps is boldly advancing on our 3-year Strategic Plan and building our board to support this work. Come be a part of this transformation and help guide our work to meet the environmental justice and racial equity needs of today!
EarthCorps Board Service:
Board members are committed volunteers who share a passion for EarthCorps’ vision and mission. They understand that environmental degradation disproportionately impacts low-income communities and communities of color. To realize our mission, EarthCorps has identified five priority areas which are critical to ensuring all people in all communities thrive. These priorities include: anti-racist culture; community partnerships; impactful environmental restoration; environmental leaders; and diverse and sustainable resources.
We want our board members to enjoy volunteering and feel valued for their commitment. We aspire to model a collaborative and transparent culture that encourages growth and ongoing learning opportunities. Currently, we are seeking applicants who live in the Puget Sound area, believe strongly in our mission, bring experience in a range of topics, from financials and legalities to community engagement and leadership, and feel personally connected to EarthCorps commitment to environmental justice.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:
EarthCorps is committed to building a culturally diverse organization and strongly encourages applicants from all racial, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities to apply, especially those from historically marginalized communities.
We ask board members to:
- Understand the priorities of the Strategic Plan and hold the board and staff accountable to it;
- Attend 6 board meetings each year and participate on one board standing committee;
- Commit to a three-year term
- Make a personally meaningful annual financial gift
- Be a compelling year-round ambassador for EarthCorps
